This workshop will benefit the beginner to the advanced student in creating new solutions to age old questions of how to finish pieces with spouts.
Using wheel throwing, handbuilding and other tools this intensive 1-day workshop will include demonstrations and hands-on work to address techniques and finishes for creating spouts for all varieties of pottery forms.Questions of utility and aesthetics will be discussed along the way, along with brainstorming about how to incorporate the spout element in traditional and non-traditional ways.
Basic wheel throwing skills will be covered briefly at the beginning of the workshop. Though not required, students are encouraged to have/bring leather-hard forms to work with – will allow them work with some techniques as they are introduced.
