Unlock the secrets of two timeless ceramic techniques in this immersive workshop

focused on sgraffito and mishima. Participants will receive an overview of the sgraffito

and mishima techniques and learn about different tools, clays, and underglazes

suitable for this kind of carving work. Participants will have the opportunity to combine

sgraffito and mishima techniques on slabs, exploring ways to create dynamic surface

compositions and layered visual effects. This workshop is open to ceramic artists of all

levels.

Materials:

All necessary materials and equipment, including clay, underglazes, slips, carving tools,

brushes, and finishing materials, will be provided for use during the workshop.

Participants are welcome to bring their own sketchbooks or design ideas for reference.

Work produced will be bisque-fired and then glazed with a clear glaze after the

workshop, and will be available for pick-up 4-6 weeks.
